I don’t remember where I first came across the word, congruency, but for me it really captures an essential ingredient of living on purpose. It comes from the word, congruous, which means being in agreement, harmony, or correspondence.

So congruency regarding living on purpose is when your thoughts, decisions, choices, speaking, actions and results are all in harmony with your true, divinely inspired life purpose. It’s this level of alignment and harmony that allows for you to flow through life on the universal winds of grace.
You are like a sailing vessel with all the sails properly trimmed to the wind.

For me, this is a life of ultimate integrity, which is another way of describing a life on purpose. Of course, the starting point for designing such a life is to have clarity of purpose, as well as clarity of what has kept you from your purpose — the fear, lack, struggling to survive Inherited Purpose. With these two fully distinguished, you’re ready to trim your sails by bringing your thoughts, decisions, choices, speaking, action and results in alignment with your true purpose.

Such a congruent life on purpose is the sweet spot of living. It’s like playing a game of tennis where each and every stroke hits on that special sweet spot of the racket. It’s awakening each morning and being inspired out of bed because you know that you have an abundance of ways to be and to express your true purpose and reason for being on planet earth.

It is just such a life that it is my pleasure to offer to people each day. And as I start my day I remind myself that my ‘job’ in life is two-fold: first, it is to live true to my own purpose; to live a life of purposeful, passionate and playful service, a life of mindful abundance balanced with simplicity, and a life of spiritual serenity. Then, and only then, the second part of my ‘job’ becomes possible — to share this purpose as a possibility with the rest of the world.

How do you connect chakras, the energy centres of the body in Eastern tradition, and flowers, pretty, ephemeral, bright, cheerful manifestations of nature?

…by way of color therapy.. yoga energy balancing techniques…meditation… and a simple way of making yourself feel better and reenergized even if you don’t really believe in any of the above.

There are seven main chakras (as well as several others) in a line from the base of the spine to the crown of the head and one more newly recognised chakra just above the head which I believe is important. Each one is associated with various areas of physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. When the energy flow in one becomes blocked it can result in certain symptoms and vice versa. By keeping the chakras open and the energy flowing, we can maximise our body’s ability to keep well and heal itself.

One way of stimulating energy flow is by a simple visualisation. Each chakra has a colour of the spectrum linked to it. Focus on that colour and imagine that colour light pouring into the chakra and saturating it in pure coloured light, then visualise the chakra as a spinning disc of colour. Take 2 or 3 deep breaths as you do so. You can also repeat a mantra or affirmation to intensify the positive energy you are creating. Work through each chakra (see below for summary) in turn from Root to Crown to rebalance your whole energy level.

So what about the flowers? Whatever you use to visualise the colour would work, paint swatches, coloured stones or crystals, an image in your minds eye, but beautiful photographs of flowers saturated in the pure colour of each chakra can bring some extra flower energy into your life as well.

Flowers raise the vibrational energy around them, which is why they have long been associated with celebrations, brought as presents to new mothers, sick people, loved ones. Weddings and funerals are lavish with them. We are rarely aware of the spiritual connection these days, we just know that flowers cheer people up and make them feel glad. So flower photos as visualisation aids make sense and are beautiful to have around. www.aflowergallery.com has a whole section devoted to chakra flower photos.

There are books written about the chakras going into far more detail than there is space for here, as it is a deep and complex subject, with infinite, individual interpretations, but here is a basic, brief summary of the chakras and their associated areas and colours.

1. Root – Red
Situated at the base of the spine.
Emotional grounding and ones roots. The excretory and reproductive systems and the immune system.
Mantra “I am in touch with the earth, my roots”

2. Sacral – Orange
A hands breadth down from the belly button.
Sexuality, creativity, financial issues, honour and ethics, one to one relationships.
Genital and urinary systems, bladder and prostate.
Mantra “I am a creative, sexual being”

3. Solar Plexus – Yellow
Over the solar plexus at the bottom of the rib cage.
Self-esteem, self-confidence and how you see yourself.
Digestive system, worries and fears, the stress of responsibility.
Mantra “I believe in myself”

4. Heart – Green
Over the heart.
Love, forgiveness, unconditional love. Relationships.
Circulatory and immune systems. Heart and lungs. Loneliness.
Mantra “I can give and receive love”

5. Throat – Blue
Centre of the throat
Communication, self-expression and will power.
Thyroid problems, sore throats, addictions(due to lack of will)
Mantra “I speak my truth”

6. Brow – Indigo
Centre of forehead
Intuition, intellect and mind, inner vision.
Brain and nervous system, eye problems.
Mantra “I see clearly”

7. Crown – Violet
Top of head.
Spiritual awakening, search for meaning. Our relationship to our spirit and God.
Central nervous system, overwhelming fatigue.
Mantra “I believe”

8. Soul star – White/crystal
Directly above the crown, about two hand’s breadths from the head
Awareness of ones soul and its connection to the conscious self.
Gives perspective on life and ability to see seemingly random positive or negative events as part of the soul’s journey.
Mantra “I transcend”

This is a personal, simplified interpretation of the chakras. Use it as a stepping stone to finding out more for yourself.

It’s all in the mind- your mind.

It’s not brought about in an instant by serene
surroundings, nor by the sound of soulful music,
nor the beauty of summer blooms. The most
luxurious surrounding can not fill an empty soul.
It’s like a vessel, the slightest crack will cause leaks,
it can never be filled. It is not whole.

You are a precious vessel. Be the first to acknowledge
this, and treasure it, and the rest of the world will agree
with you.

A troubled soul is a restless one. Ask yourself- what
is really troubling you? To stay in this state does not
help you to find answers. Worrying does not bring
answers. It tends to add confusion, incites fear
and obscures the possibility of a solution.

What you need is clarity, not more confusion. Do
you know what it is that clutters your mind and
troubles your soul? Can you spare some time for
a quiet moment? A time to step away from your
problems.

Perhaps you think too much, try too hard and get
disappointed too quickly. Or you give up too easily.
Think of balance and the virtue of temperance.

Are you being too hard on yourself? Each day that
passes by, surely there is one, just one
accomplishment that you could be pleased with.
One small blessing that warms your heart and
puts a smile on your face!

Learn to get away from all that is threatening, scary,
and downright stressful. Stress. It is the greatest
source of illness, relationship discord, and lack of
harmony and peace even with one’s self.

Negative vibrations tend to come uninvited, working
their way slowly, and then at your weakest moment,
overcome you! It can devastate you.

A bright and sunny morning to wake up to is a joy to
behold. Watch the diamonds twinkle and glimmer as
the sun rays hit the snow, or the gently flowing
waves of the lake. Ever notice the shy glint on a
leaf with the morning dew.

Inhale a deep breath of fresh air, yes, that is free. It
is comforting. Give yourself the gift of a quiet time, a
chance to empty your conscious mind of all the agonies
accumulating and congesting your mind.

Think of a traffic jam, vehicles are moving painfully slow.
It eats away at the nerves; it burns gas, and wastes away
precious time.

Many of us can relate to this. Think of steps you need
to take to avoid this waste of energy in your life.

Have Faith, find ways to meet your quiet self. Together,
you will find the inner wisdom to minimize the clutter
in your mind and find clarity to propel you to positive
way of thinking. Discover the wealth deep insight can
add to your life.

Give yourself a few minutes of tranquility, quieten
your mind, and just let go of the cares of today. No,
not in a bottle or a puff . Stare at the world around you,
staring can quieten the mind. Stare at the patch of blue
beyond, drift with the clouds. Fill your soul with the
breath of Life, warm your heart with all the blessings
Life has showered you with. Small blessings mean a lot.

Yesterday is past, but today matters. Take the moment
today to give yourself the luxury of tranquility. Release,
surrender all your worries, all your doubts, all your anger.
Trust that tomorrow is another day, a better day.

A moment of tranquility, away from the noise and
concerns of the day, a moment just for you and your
tranquil mind.

I always had an active imagination when I was young. I hated school, and would pass the time away day- dreaming about things I should not even have known about at such a young age. I used to make up stories in my head, that would always have me as the centre of attention, like collecting an Oscar for a Hollywood film that I had starred in, or recovering from a major operation or accident. I think I was like this because I was a shy kid who lacked a lot of confidence. It was no different when I started work. Those long boring days stuck in an office with bitchy overweight girls with no meaning to their life apart from bingo on a Friday night and watching Eastenders with their doubly overweight boyfriends. I always dreamed about writing a book or acting. When I realised that I was far to old to be dreaming such girly things such as acting, I decided that I would become famous for my imagination instead. I decided to write a book. I thought about it long and hard. What do I write about? What era will it be set in? What will be the background basis for the book? Who would want to read a book from the likes of a person like me? I always liked reading about the Second World War. I had a morbid fascination surrounding the rise of Hitler and the Holocaust. Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means a Nazi, and I totally disagree with the treatment and atrocities he handed out to the poor Jews. Nether the less it did interest me, so after much pondering, I decided to write a story about the Holocaust. I based it on a young Jewish girl growing up in occupied Poland during the Nazi invasion. I never believed for one minute that it would be published, but after submitting my manuscript to quite a few online publishers, I finally got accepted. I could not believe that little old me would become a successful writer. My book is due for release on 3rd March 2005 and is for sale at most leading bookstores, including my publishers www.publishamerica.com , you see anybody can write, but it takes confidence and you have to believe in yourself. I never did for so many years. I t was only my Husband telling me how good my story was that I decided to give it a go, and believe me I am just a regular girl with no silver spoon in her mouth, I just plucked up the courage to do something to change my life for the better. The moral of my humble little story is, don’t let doubt and the lack of confidence hold you back. Give it go, for you never know where your courage may lead you.
You can view my book at www.unionjaxbooks.com
